Leisure-time centres

Leisure-time centres are aimed at pupils aged 6–10 and are offered for those parts of the day when they are not attending school or the pre-school class, including during holidays and study days. Recreation centres and youth centres

There are youth centres in all city district departments, which offer activities during the evenings and are free of charge. A youth centre should be an environment without any demands on performance, but where young people have the opportunity, together with the staff, to plan and carry out various activities in a safe, drug-free environment. Boys and girls have the same activity opportunities

Playgrounds, park games and paddling pools

The City’s playgrounds have different kinds of play equipment, such as slides and climbing frames. There may also be room to play with sand and water, and in winter there may also be a sledding hill.

Park games are free of charge and open to children, young people and their relatives. The focus is on outdoor activities such as games, cultivation and creative activities. During the day there are staff present at the park games, and there is always someone to talk to. Sometimes the park games can have activities in the evenings and at weekends. Some park games can be booked for children’s parties and other events.
