Place Management
Through place-based collaboration, Place Management, the City of Stockholm aims to strengthen its partnerships with the police, local businesses, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders in order to improve public safety and enhance the attractiveness of the city.
Place Management refers to the practical cooperation of diverse stakeholders working together to implement measures that promote safety, prevent crime, and foster vibrant neighbourhoods and a welcoming environment in a specific urban area.
The Place Management model involves bringing together relevant municipal councils, committees and company boards, local property owners, and business representatives around a shared vision and goals for a particular location. Local initiatives focused on safety and crime prevention are prioritized. The work includes conducting safety assessments jointly with the police and civil society representatives.
The city district council which holds geographic responsibility for the area serves as the lead entity. However, all municipal councils, committees and companies operating in the vicinity are expected to contribute to the collective objective of enhancing safety and activating the space.
This collaborative approach is being implemented across all city districts of Stockholm.
