City District Department of Farsta

The City District Department of Farsta is responsible for a large proportion of municipal services within the city district area of Farsta.

The City District Department is responsible for

  • municipal preschool
  • elderly care services
  • support and services for people with disabilities
  • work on the urban environment (e.g. maintenance of parks)
  • social psychiatry
  • individual and family care
  • guidance for consumers
  • leisure and cultural activities.

The elected representatives on the City District Council decide what is to be prioritised for the municipal operations in the area. The City District Department must then implement the Council’s decisions.

The city district area of Farsta comprises the following city districts:

  • Fagersjö
  • Farsta
  • Farstanäset
  • Farsta strand
  • Gubbängen
  • Hökarängen
  • Larsboda
  • Sköndal
  • Svedmyra (part of) 
  • Tallkrogen

Organisation

The work of the City District Department is led by Karin Kollberg, acting Director of the City District of Farsta. The Department consists of seven divisions with responsibility for operations within each area. 

The Administrative Unit consists of a head of unit, archivist, registrar, council secretary, IT coordinator, IT strategist, data protection officer, communication strategist, security coordinator and caretaker.

The Unit’s work is led by a Head of Administrative Unit.

The Preschool Division is responsible for the municipal preschools in the Farsta district. The division is divided into four principal areas with corresponding special educational support. Each area has three units led by a deputy principal. In each unit, there are 3–4 preschools.

The district administration is responsible for a total of 38 preschools with approximately 2,300 enrolled children.

The HR and Finance Division is responsible for the City District Department of Farsta’s work on

  • HR issues
  • finance and management by objectives
  • follow-up procurement
  • the Department’s facilities.

It is organized into its own unit and is led by a unit manager. HR is organized into its own unit and is led by a unit manager.

The Elderly Care Division comprises

  • purchaser unit
  • care and nursing homes
  • daytime activities for the elderly
  • sheltered housing
  • municipal home care service
  • open leisure activities for senior citizens.

The Division is led by a Head of Division.

The Department of Individual and Family Care has about 350 employees who work with support, services, and care for the residents of the district. The work in the department is led by a department head and is divided into four areas: Promotion and Prevention, Children, Adults, and Service Providers.

The City Development Division comprises

  • urban environment issues
  • local trade and industry
